The Troupers! Here is who we are:

Trouper Robin Carter – Lead and backing vocals, percussion, resident Diva “Robinator” Carter is the fourth of seven siblings and was born in Brooklyn, NY. She attended the Julliard School of music at age 16 and graduated from the Metropolitan School for the Arts (MSA) in Syracuse, New York. While at MSA, Robin studied with Michael Massner – vocal coach to Diana Ross and Melba Moore. She has sung for the President of the United States, the Governor of North Carolina, and famed poet-laureate Maya Angelou’s birthday party. Robin toured Paris, London, and Switzerland (including the Montreaux Jazz Festival) with the Ira Wiggins Group, performed with jazz great Tom Brown, and was featured artist (March 2002) in concert with the North Carolina Symphony. Robin’s infectious stage presence delivers powerful performances equally to soft jazz ballads, Tina Turner or Chaka Khan R&B dance classics, or Journey’s Steve Perry. Need a classical aria? Robin can deliver! In 2011, she released a solo jazz CD - “Return to Paradise”. As manager of The Troupers, “Robinator” walks softly while carrying a big stick.

His endless energy (on-stage and audience participation), 1,000 watt smile, soulful lead vocals and saxes, will prove that he has never met a stranger.

We're certain you'll enjoy as Charlie's soaring solos are the perfect complement to The Trouper’s performances.

Trouper Mike Williams – Lead and Background Vocals, Bass The youngest of seven children, Mike Williams attended Big Ruin Baptist Church (Williamsboro, NC) with his musically inclined family every Sunday, joining the church choir at age 5. Three of his four sisters sang as a trio. When he turned 12, his older brother received a bass guitar for his birthday. Mike would sneak his brother’s bass guitar, go over a friend’s house that played guitar, and would play for hours not knowing the talents he would unveil. He would tie the bass (no case) to his back and ride his bike for several miles, just to play music. A traditionalist, he continues travelling to gigs in the same manner! Mike started his first band in the seventh grade (The Vanwilton Band), and played bass with other bands throughout high school. A music major at North Carolina Central University, he studied under the great Earl Saunders, violinist for the Durham Symphony, and travelled with NCCU’s Touring Choir, while playing around NC with: Soul Desire, JABB, Rich Emily and many others. After graduating, Mike joined international Reggae artist Rolly Gray and Sunfire and toured all over the US, playing: Reggae, Calypso, Soca, and a variety of authentic Caribbean music. He would also encounter other greats: Peter Tosh, Yellow Man, Ziggy Marley, Muddy Waters, Aaron Nevelle and the Nevelle Brothers, Billy Preston, Pattie Labelle, The Manhattans, and Third World. He is still a bassist with NCCU’s Theatre Program (Little Shop Of Horrors, Annie, Rave, and others). Other than his four daughters and family, singing and playing his bass is what he lives for and will always thank God for the opportunities and experiences throughout his life.
